And that song came out around the time I was in high school. I’ve liked it since then, downloaded it and listened to it all the time. Then my love for OPM boomed and the amount of time I spent listening to In The Shadows dwindled until I actually forgot about the song.
I heard it on the radio a while back, and I was singing to it before I realized what I was doing. Naturally, when I did realize it, I racked my brain for the title of the song (I think I was on a jeep at that time, hence no internet access) and when I learned of it. Also, of why it had that feeling of something I sang a lot way back.
Then it hit me. In The Shadows by The Rasmus.
This morning I saw a post on MCR’s Helena, a song that came out a couple of years or so after In The Shadows, here on Tumblr. Helena’s another one of those I downloaded and listened to for ages. I remember Paolo had it on his iPod, and I’d just play that song over and over (alternating with our occasional bouts of Disney songs mini concerts)
After YouTube-ing the video, I then searched for In The Shadows. I don’t know why, but when I think of one of these two songs, I think of the other. Maybe because their videos both featured vocalists in black with messy hair. I dunno.
On one of the suggested videos, the thumbnail featured a blonde girl. So I clicked on that. Huh. The girl looked familiar. So came the Wiki search. Apparently, it was Anette Olzon, Nightwish’s current vocalist.
I guess it’s about time I update myself on The Rasmus songs, huh?
Also, listening to that song (October & April) made me want to listen again to Nightwish’s unofficial track, While Your Lips Are Still Red, where Marco sings and there’s no trace at all of Anette’s vocals. I should probably download that song, too.
And also, totally unrelated to this post, it’s 7:43 already, and I said I’d be at work early. Oh, damn.
